Wendy Williams' 10 year, 10 city tour hits Atlanta

ATLANTA - Daytime talk show queen Wendy Williams is celebrating. Her show, The Wendy Williams Show is turning 10 and she made a stop in Atlanta Thursday as part of a ten-city tour to celebrate.

For nine seasons, she has entertained audiences on FOX 5 Atlanta with celebrity gossip, hot topics and her infamous "Ask Wendy" segment. So, what’s ahead for Season 10? Three words: “How you doin’?”

Several hundred of her closest friends in Atlanta came out to the Buckhead Threatre Thursday night for a free evening of advice, music and, of course, Hot Topics. It was Wendy’s way to say thank you and to give a little something back to the ATL.

Lines of fans from all walks of life wrapped around the building Thursday night for the show. The Good Day Atlanta team, long-time friends of Williams and fans of her show, were also there to show their support and take part in the festivities.

With less than a month before the premiere of her first double-digit season, Wendy Williams is overflowing with excitement. She promised this season will be everything her fans have come to expect and then some.

“It's the one place in the world where you can let your freak flag fly and I think that’s the winning formula for the show,” Wendy told FOX 5’s Cynné Simpson.

So, fans shouldn’t expect any major changes to the set or the format.

“The show has survived off ‘Hot Topics,’ ‘Ask Wendy,’ a messy host and wonderful co-hosts,” the daytime talk show host confessed.

In 30 years of broadcasting, Wendy said many have tried to tame her brash, outspoken style.

“They wanted to change me, every single time. The girl I was on the radio couldn’t be on civilized daytime TV,” Wendy discussing with Cynné how her show just couldn’t focus on a single topic like so many others. “I care but I'd rather watch you talk about it than me talk about it.”

Thankfully, for millions of fans, Wendy Williams isn't changing a thing. She's unapologetically calling it as she sees it and inviting you along for what promises to be a wild ride.

“You might not like me today but please come back and like me tomorrow,” Williams said.

In addition to the show, taking her son to college, Wendy has also created nonprofit The Hunter Foundation with her husband and son. This year, their organization teamed up with BeHere.org to face the national crisis of substance abuse.

The Wendy Williams Show airs weekdays at 10 a.m. following Good Day Atlanta.
