Washington Post reporter moving to MN county he called 'worst place to live in America'
Sen. Al Franken posted a video Monday welcoming Washington Post reporter to his new home in Red Lake County, Minn.
(KMSP) - The Washington Post reporter who called Red Lake County in Minnesota “the absolute worst place to live in America” says he and his family are moving there from Washington, D.C. this spring.
In August, Christopher Ingraham wrote an article for the Washington Post ranking every county in the U.S. by scenery and climate, with Red Lake County coming in dead last. The ranking was based on data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's index of natural amenities.
Minnesotans took to social media to express their outrage at the report, prompting Ingraham to take a trip to Red Lake County to actually witness “the worst place to live” firsthand.
“I met interesting people, petted friendly cows, and experienced firsthand the stark beauty of the northwestern Minnesota landscape,” Ingraham wrote in the Washington Post on Tuesday, explaining his upcoming move.
In his column, Ingraham said he and his wife had been talking about raising their two-year-old sons out in the country and after his trip, they decided to do it in Minnesota.
Sen. Al Franken posted a video on Facebook Monday, welcoming Ingraham to the state.
Ingraham says he will continue to work for the Washington Post remotely.
