ATLANTA - Renee Zellweger spent the day in Atlanta helping local homeless organizations.
The Carry the Torch Luncheon took place Wednesday afternoon at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Organizers said they want to raise $1 million for Atlanta homeless charities.
Fellow Academy Award Winning Actor Jon Voight was also in attendance.
He appears alongside Zellweger in the new movie "Same Kind of Different as Me."
“Know the work we're doing is going to benefit many, many people. These people can get off the streets, and we can help them get on with their lives and return them to their families in many cases,” said Voight.
Zellweger and Voight’s new film tells the true story of an unlikely friendship between an art dealer and a homeless man who meet at a soup kitchen.
