ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - An Atlanta Fire Rescue captain was shot Saturday during a robbery in Buckhead, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Authorities told FOX 5, the shooting happened in the 2900 block of Grandview Avenue around 2:15 p.m.
Capt. Cecil Level was shot in the shoulder and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and listed in stable condition.
Investigators said Level and a woman were getting out of their vehicle when two males suspects approached them with guns and demanded personal belongings.
According to police, when the gunmen saw the Level's captain badge, they shot him and fled.
Police say one of the suspects was struck by a car when he was running away and may be hurt. The other man got away in a newer model Ford Explorer.
Investigators are working to identify the suspects.
