ATLANTA - Police need help locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run early Wednesday morning that killed a woman.
Investigators are searching for a black 2013 Lexus RX 350 that has damage to the front passenger side.
It happened on Arizona Avenue, which is a dead end street in northeast Atlanta. Police said a person leaving a nearby restaurant found the victim in the middle of the street and called 9-1-1 around 1:30 a.m. Arriving officers said the woman, who is white, appears to be in her late 20s or 30s. Her identity isn't known at the time.
A security camera that is monitored 24 hours a day is located right where the hit and run took place. Police are using video from that camera to determine what happened. Detectives said the woman was trying to exit a black crossover when the driver accelerated in reverse. The victim was thrown to the ground and then hit by the vehicle. They also say it appears the driver might've gotten out of the crossover and looked at the victim before fleeing the scene.
Detectives are trying to figure out if the driver and woman got into an altercation possibly outside the vehicle before the hit and run took place.
Investigators are trying to find other security cameras and or talk to people who might've been in the area at the time. If you have any information, you're asked to call police or Crimestoppers.
