Woman credits Dr. Pepper for long life

Does a Doctor Pepper a day keep the doctor away? One elderly woman sure thinks so!

Elizabeth Sullivan just turned 104-years-old.

"Well at 103 I didn't think I'd make it but I'm still perking along," said Sullivan.

The Texas woman says having three cans a day has kept her in good health.

"People try to give me coffee for breakfast; well I'd rather have a Doctor Pepper," said Sullivan. "I started drinking them about 40 years ago; 3 a day; and every doctor that sees me says it'll kill you, but they die and I don't, so they must be a mistake someway."

Friends and family came by to surprise her with a cake shaped like the Dr. Pepper can.

"Nobody's going to believe all this stuff; I wish my daughter were here."

For her special day, the company's CEO sent her several cases and a Dr. Pepper gift basket.

"Man I'm feeling good; I'm glad I'm still here; I'm glad I'm not in a rest home; glad I can read books and watch TV and have people come by and say hello."

Sullivan is well known in her community. She taught high school math for 15 years and tutored football players for free.

Please join us in wishing her a happy birthday!
