Peachtree City's first woman police chief sworn in

Monday marks the first official day of work for Peachtree City's new police chief.

Janet Moon became the first woman hired for the position.

Officials said Moon has a 30-year history in law enforcement and her most recent post was as Deputy Police Chief in Suwanee.

She replaced William McCollom who resigned in March. McCollum was accused of shooting his wife on New Year's Eve. He claimed it was an accident.

Moon was sworn in Monday morning at City Hall. The oath of office was administered by Mayor Vanessa Fleisch.
