Muller hits game-winner; Virginia Tech beats Georgia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Malik Muller hit a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left and finished with 17 points to lift Virginia Tech to a 65-63 victory over Georgia Tech on Monday.

Muller was 6 of 8 from the floor, including three 3-pointers as Virginia Tech (10-14, 2-9 ACC) snapped a three-game losing streak.

Georgia Tech (11-13, 2-10) called a timeout with 12.1 seconds remaining to set up a final play, but Marcus Georges-Hunt's layup was heavily contested and the ball went out of bounds off a Georgia Tech player.

Adam Smith made 1 of 2 free throws with 1.8 seconds to go to give the Hokies a two-point lead. Georgia Tech did not get a shot attempt off before the final buzzer.

Smith scored 15 points for the Hokies and Shane Henry added 10.

Charles Mitchell led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points. Georges-Hunt had 11, while Chris Bolden and Tadric Jackson each added 10.
