Georgia 400 Reopens after Messy Tractor Trailer Accident

- Officials report that all lanes of Interstate 285 eastbound and Georgia Highway 400 northbound are back open after two tractor trailers were involved in a crash.

According to Sandy Springs Police, two tractor trailers were involved in a crash around 11:44 a.m. Friday on Interstate 285 eastbound at the Georgia Highway 400 northbound bridge.

Both vehicles drove off the Interstate 285 eastbound bridge and landed onto Georgia 400 northbound. One of the vehicles involved is a fuel tanker containing 8,000 gallons of fuel. Sandy Springs Fire Rescue has confirmed that the fuel has been contained and there is no leak.

Three individuals were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The exit ramp from Interstate 285 eastbound at Georgia 400 northbound remains closed.

Delays are still expected to last through rush hour as crews work to clean up the accident despite the accident having been cleaned up.



Georgia 400 reopened shortly before 4 p.m.


A spokesperson for Publix said their driver was taken to North Fulton Hospital. They said their thoughts and prayers are with him and all involved in the accident.
