Winter Storm Warning to expire at 1 p.m. Saturday

A Winter Weather Warning will remain in effect for the first half of Saturday. The Winter Weather Advisory has expired.

There is a potential for some snow and ice accumulation in parts of north Georgia. Ice from freezing rain and sleet is the largest concern from this system. A mix of rain, snow, and sleet has been reported across north GA. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 1 pm Saturday. That warning includes:

Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Lumpkin, White, Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall and Banks counties.

Any frozen precipitation will melt this afternoon. Temperatures should rise above freezing by noon in the mountains and the Winter Storm Warning will expire at 1 p.m.
