ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Braves are clearly rebuilding.

The guy responsible for the overhaul insists they can still be a contender.

President of baseball operations John Hart spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday, one day after dealing power-hitting Evan Gattis to the Houston Astros. Hart was also responsible for deals that sent outfielder Jason Heyward to the Cardinals and Justin Upton to the Padres.

Even though the Braves received only one player sure to be in the majors this season, Hart says they can still be a contending team. As he puts it, "We may not be the prettiest girl at the dance, but we're going to be a lot of fun to dance with."

The Braves are coming off just their third losing season in the last 24 years.
